After collecting just 16 and 17 percent of misses on the defensive glass over his first two seasons, Sanders has grabbed better than 28 percent of all defensive rebounds available while he’s been on the floor this season. In nearly identical minutes, he’s grabbed 160 defensive boards this season after grabbing just 98 last.

Dude has been so good this season. One of the better transformations and fulfillment of talent I've seen as a Bucks fan in years.

John Henson could be very similar to Sanders, except Henson is an offensive threat.

It's amazing where he has come since last year. Although, 50 percent of the time he puts up shots, I think to myself, there is no way that is going in, but somehow his shots have been dropping. He's a man on fire right now and everyone loves his energy. But where does he go from here? Does he constantly get better, or will this be close to the peak of his performance? Obviously he is very young in his career but it is difficult to see him improve a lot more after how far along he has already come along. Also, you really don't know what to expect out of him on any given night. There's something weird going inside of that man's brain and I can always tell when he's about to do something crazy. He's a very lanky, awkward player in my opinion, but if he keeps improving how he has, people better watch out!

if you watch game to game you can easily see how he has improved but more importantly that he is improving from game to game, he hasnt just gotten better from last season to this season hes already gotten better from the begging of season till now. he has unlimited potential with his size length and athleticism. over last few games he has been a serious consistant offensive threat. also you gotta remember back to his college days he was a big man that could shoot the three so he could easily devolve that in the off season similar to a serge iblocka

Definitely one of the best things about Larry in this young season is that the fans totally dig him. Nothing is more fun than being at the BMOBC chanting "LARRY LARRY"

This is a good point, something that gets lost with Henson playing so little. I'll have to talk to each of them about this.

With Larry being an RFA after next season and slowly gaining NBA buzz, do you all think he'll be a sell-high option after next year or do we have a shot at re-signing him? I am just afraid Milwaukee is going to be an NBA D-League where rookies play out their contracts to go to warmer weather unless they get an Ersan deal.

He has by far been the most exciting Buck this season. He should be getting a lot of looks in the MIP watch as well. Between him and Asik right now, imo

Larry Sanders has my affection.

He is a man on a mission and it's fun to be a part of it.  Fans respond to effort as much as they do to success.  It's nice to see Larry have them both.

Patti in the house!

Larry certainly has connected with the fan base this season. He's a passionate guy, people around here always seem to appreciate that. A little bit of character goes a long way.

as a RFA you dont get a choice of where you want to go, you can extend contract with bucks or accept a contract from another team where the bucks than get to decide to match that contract or let him go.

and im sure the bucks will make sure to keep him for at least a few more years depending on contract negotiations

checkin out his stats today...

Larry leads the team

Rebounds per game with 8.6

PER with 18.3 (league average is 15)

Defensive Win Shares 1.7 (estimated number of wins contributed by a player due to his defense)

Overall Win Shares (Tied wit BJ) 2.3 (estimated number of wins contributed by player)

Leads the NBA!!

Blocked shots (3.0)

Defensive Rating 93 (Estimate of Points allowed per 100 possessions while on the court)

Block % 9.1 (estimate of the number of Blocked 2 points shot attempts the player is responsible for while on the floor)

I think these statistics show that Larry is the Most Valuable Player on this team right now. Monta and Brandon score more points and have flashy passes and cool shots etc...but Larry Sanders has been consistantly dominant on the defensive end to the point where I believe he warrants All Defensive Team considerations this season if he can keep these numbers up.

All the more challenging is that he does this while being relatively small in stature.  He's tall, but some NBA teams have an awful lot of beef for him to contend with.  He tends to get frustrated and then in foul trouble and these guys on other teams know it.  If he can keep those fouls in check this entire season, he will be a valuable player.  Happy for his accomplishments so far.

Go Bucks!

This is a fantastic feature on Sanders: http://sportsillustr...ucks/index.html

Highlights:

As a sophomore, Sanders transferred to Port St. Lucie High School, where the basketball coaches asked him to join the team. In his first game, he scored in the wrong basket.

Still, he is best when the ball goes up. Before New Orleans played Milwaukee this season, Celtics coach Doc Rivers told his son, Hornets guard Austin Rivers, to watch out for Sanders. "Be careful," Rivers said. "You get a step too deep and he'll block you." The coach tried to explain how Sanders baits the hook, hanging back to give the appearance of a clear shot, before unleashing that 7-7 wingspan at the last moment. He watched the game to see if his boy was paying attention. "I think Larry blocked his first two shots," Rivers said.

Give it a read. So well done. Jenkins is one of my two favorite feature writers about the NBA.

Good read

we really need to make sure larry is getting at least 30 minutes a night, its been up and down lately sometime because of foul trouble which i understand but there are times like last night where he only got 20 minutes but wasnt in foul trouble at all in 2nd half
